Workers for Opportunity Applauds Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp for Signing Landmark Worker Freedom Legislation
ATLANTA, GA — The Mackinac Center for Public Policy’s national Workers for Opportunity initiative applauds Gov. Brian Kemp for signing Senate Bill 362. A key legislative priority for Gov. Kemp, the legislation limits eligibility for receiving taxpayer incentive dollars to those companies that protect their employees’ right to a private ballot vote on unionization.
Workers for Opportunity proudly championed these efforts alongside our in-state allies at the Georgia Public Policy Foundation.
“Thanks to the leadership of Gov. Brian Kemp, Sen. Mike Hodges and Rep. Will Wade – this landmark legislation means that Georgia joins Tennessee as the second state in the nation to protect workers’ right to a private vote on whether to unionize at companies that receive taxpayer dollars," said Tony Daunt, senior director of Workers for Opportunity. “Georgia’s neighbor, Alabama, is also expected to enact a similar law in the coming days. It’s encouraging to see governors and legislatures, across the Southeast, protect and enhance workers' freedoms and the right-to-work. Workers for Opportunity is ready to support and advise leaders across the country as they advance reforms that protect employees’ privacy and right to a private ballot.”
