Workers for Opportunity Applauds Georgia House Industry & Labor Committee for Advancing Worker Freedom

ATLANTA, GA —Workers for Opportunity applauds the Georgia State House Industry & Labor Committee members for passing SB 362. The legislation from Governor Brian Kemp protects certain workers’ right to a secret ballot free from intimidation and coercion in union organizing elections. And, will soon head to the full Georgia House of Representatives for a vote.

Georgia Governor Brian Kemp's leadership on this effort is the latest example of bold, executive leadership to protect workers, employers, and taxpayers. Last year, Tennessee Governor Lee passed similar, first-in-nation protections in the Volunteer State.

“Thanks to the House Industry and Labor Committee members for supporting this important piece of legislation, brought by Governor Kemp, with the support of legislative leadership, the Workers for Opportunity initiative and Georgia Public Policy Foundation. Now, Georgia is one step closer to becoming just the second state in the country to restrict the distribution of taxpayer dollars to companies that protect workers’ right to a private ballot vote over whether to unionize," said Vincent Vernuccio, Labor Policy Senior Fellow at Workers for Opportunity.
